  • Professor Perry Zurn published (September 2024), a co-edited collection that establishes trans philosophy as a unique field of inquiry and offers fresh perspectives on trans theory and politics. Zurn鈥檚 forthcoming book, (January 2025), tells stories of how trans individuals make history, resist, and foster hope within academia, drawing from local archives and over 100 interviews from the Five Colleges in Massachusetts (Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, Smith, and University of Massachusetts, Amherst).

  • Professor and Department Chair聽Jin Y. Park聽was elected Vice President of the聽, the world's largest (more than 8,000 members) scholarly society dedicated to the study of religion. She will be President-Elect and then President over the next three years, and is the first scholar of the East Asian traditions to be elected since the founding of AAR聽in 1909.听Professor Park also received the Uberoi Foundation Religious Studies grant in the amount of $25,000 for her project on 鈥淏uddhism and Non-violence.
